About your guide
Your journey will be guided by Blake Dyer, an experienced tour operator, alongside Jungle Svonni, a respected Sami shaman who will share his deep cultural knowledge. You’ll also be welcomed by Sire Marja and her family, whose ancestral connection to the reindeer herd offers a rare glimpse into Sami traditions and daily life.
Itinerary
Day 1: Fly into Lakselv, Norway, and travel to the Sami family’s location near their reindeer herd. Get settled in the Lavvu and meet your Sami guides.
Day 2: Spend the day with the Sami family, learning about their daily responsibilities and preparing traditional food.
Day 3: Join intimate storytelling sessions by the fire in the Lavvu. Visit and feed the reindeer, followed by a nature walk to explore the surrounding wilderness.
Day 4: Visit a sacred Sami offering site and learn about local flora during a guided foraging walk. Participate in cultural exchanges and relationship-building exercises.
Day 5: Travel to Lakselv for a day of exploration before flying to Tromsø and transferring to Senja. Check into a cozy seaside Airbnb.
Day 6: Hike to Segla Mountain, an iconic peak showcasing Norway’s rugged coastline.
Day 7: Return to Tromsø for departure flights, bringing home memories of this profound cultural journey.
